Our Story
Alpha House Development Company is a nonprofit housing developer that assists homeowners in salvaging the upside equity many lose when selling their homes or commercial properties to real estate investors. Alpha House believes all the tools an owner needs to assess the market, renovate their property, and sell for top value are available. We guide owners to use tested analytics to sell their home for, “What the market will bear.” Our slogan is, “Know your property’s highest and best use before selling.
Turning Vacant and Blighted Properties into Hope…
In 1992, when Alpha House Founder, Kenneth Bossard, decided to pursue an MBA in Real Estate Development, homelessness and the elimination of Single-Room Occupancy housing that helped create it were hot topics. Ken chose a particular area of specialization. His research project, “Affordable Housing Design for Domestic Violence Survivors,” won a school-sponsored Fellowship competition. He spent his senior year studying the project in an internship with a public-private partnership between a local mortgage brokerage and the regional AME Church.
From these experiences, Ken came up with the idea for Alpha House Development, a real estate development company which would capitalize on public-private partnerships to funnel profits to house the less fortunate, particularly victims of domestic violence.

FIVE COMPARTMENTS - FOUR COMPONENTS
REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT PARTNERS
Our Real Estate Investment Partners are accredited investors who have agreed to two commitments for each Alpha House. Each investor partner agrees to (1) Contribute financially as their conscience guides toward ongoing Alpha House expenses, and (2) To mentor one Alpha House Resident in the financial matters they will be learning in the Classroom Setting.
FAITH-BASED PARTNER
One local church will dedicate licensed counselors and Social Workers to Alpha House on a scheduled monthly basis. The faith-based partner will oversee offsite worship services for each Alpha House. These services are recommended for each resident but not required.
UNIVERSITY PARTNER
A local university will provide graduate Social Work, Law, and Psychology students to partner with government and faith-based professionals for college credit in their chosen areas.
GOVERNMENT PARTNERS
Government Departments of Domestic Violence, Public Safety, and Court Intake will assign dedicated staff to streamline public services including but not limited to protective orders, custody, reestablishing credit, homeless benefits, and on-site security.
